Hi! I'm Sarah,
I wear many hats these days – Mom, Certified Teacher, Tutor, and Owner of the SN Learning Studio: a cozy tutoring centre where students of all ages come to strengthen their math skills and gain confidence in themselves.
After more than 2 decades in education (including 10 years teaching middle school math), I became obsessed with one big question:
What helps kids truly succeed in math?
Spoiler: it’s not worksheets, timed drills, or memorization!
It’s their own BELIEF in their ability to do math.
It’s CONFIDENCE and CONNECTION.
It’s how they FEEL about math.
Kids aren’t wired to dislike math.
What they dislike is being confused when math isn’t taught in a way that makes sense to them.
The Decoding Division framework was developed after years of working with kids who struggled to make sense of division.
The approach is gradual and conceptual.
I’ve seen so many students finally have their “AHA!” moments with this approach that I knew I needed to share it with more teachers!

Introducing Decoding Division
Decoding Division is a complete instructional framework that helps students build division understanding one skill at a time.
Through short video lessons, guided practice, engaging games, and quick assessments, students develop confidence while learning the concepts that make division finally make sense.
What's included:
10 Lessons + Guided Notes
Each lesson has a built-in, follow-along video for students to use individually, or as a whole class. Simply scan the QR code and go! Students actively engage with the video by doing the examples shown and then practice what they’ve learned at the end of the lesson. An answer key is provided.
10 Games
Each lesson is followed by a game that adds an element of fun for students while they practice each skill.
Detailed instructions are included for each game, and there is very minimal preparation required to start playing!
10 Assessments
Before moving on to the next step, students can complete a quick “Check-in” to assess their understanding. Plenty of space is provided for students to show their thinking, and a 4-3-2-1 scale is included at the top of each page to quickly and clearly provide feedback. An answer key is provided.
